Handling
The goal of this activity is the supply of the resources required for the realization of tasks.
The project management has to create the necessary prerequisites for that (tools, resources, computer equipment defined in the Project Plan, chapter 4. Resource Plan) and to define the corresponding contacts.
Products required for the realization of the activity have to be identified according to the product flow so CM can initiate their availability. In cases where HW and SW developments run parallel, the synchronization of the HW or SW products deserves particular attention. Should the required products not be available in time, measures within the scope of activity PM4 - Detailed Planning must be determined.
Explanation
This activity should not only include the supply of resources, but also the control of their being available, the guarantee of adequate support during application, and the steering of exchange of project resources.
In addition, it should include tasks for the administration of the software development environment (SDE) that have to be carried out here, like
- user administration(1)
- administration of user authorizations
- administration/allocation of user groups
- allocation of user work-directories
- allocation of access rights to the SDE
- resource administration
- collection/evaluation of accounting information
- monitoring of capacity utilization of system/network
- modification of the SDE configuration
- general data backup (beyond the CM backup)
- allocation of SDE resources to tasks
