    • 5.9.1 Overview

    Historically, Reliability Models were first applied in the hardware sector. By now, however, they are increasingly being transferred to software as well. Contrary to hardware, the reliability considerations connected with aging and wear out failures are not important for software. In the software sector, decreasing reliability is usually due to faults in connection with software generation. Just like aging and wear out failures, the effects of such faults cannot be predicted.

    Reliability Models can be classified as follows:

    The various approaches are better described in the individual descriptions. The selection of a reliability model must be individually realized for each project.
