1 Characterization of the Interface
The interface corresponds to type "information transmission from one basic method to another in sequential order". For each entity type resulting from the ER - E/R Modeling, the life cycle is analyzed with the ELH - Entity Life History method and the relevant integrity conditions are documented.
2 Example

Figure 4.11 illustrates the essential features of the lifecycle of the entity type order. In this connection, the states and the initializing processes have been listed. The integrity requirements connected with the actions of the generation, the modification and/or the deletion of an instantiation of entity type Order have to be separately collected (compare /Achatzi, 91/).
3 Tool Support
The interface is supported by all commercially available tools permitting a matrix representation according to Figure 4.11. In particular the interface is supported by such tools that enable the generation of state transition diagrams. A number of tools support an ELH representation in SSADM - Structured Systems Analysis and Design Method form (compare /Downs, 1988/).
