Reference /VM 1997/ V-Model 97: Lifecycle Process Model
Definition/
Use
Program or program part used during integration to make available certain function or performance characteristics of a SW Module, a Database, a SW Component or a SW Unit. In the sense of the V-Model, a dummy may be a stub or a driver:
  • A stub is a reserved space for a SW Module or one or several SW Components in a SW substructure. The stub makes it possible that the SW substructure may be translated or processed in a limited way. Thus, informal assessments can be realized under certain criteria without the necessity that a SW Module, a SW Component or a SW Unit are completely available.
  • A driver is a sequence control program. It is used to execute and thus informally assess SW substructures for whom the intended process environment is not yet available.
