The criticality of an item expresses the significance
given to a functional failure of that item.
The criticality is expressed in levels; the higher a level is the more severe the consequences are in case of a functional failure. Note 1: The criticality levels may be contrasted with an agreed-upon effort which must be invested into the realization and assessment of the item. Note 2: It is recommended to define the criticality levels individually for the different kinds of IT systems. On top of that it may be practical to adjust these definitions with regard to the individual projects (e.g. with regard to the terminology). |
